There has one thing been missing from this season so far, SEABIRDS!
They’ve been flirting with us all year. Some days there are many offshore, others there are none. We’ve had one decent puffin day and that has been more or less it.
Thank heavens this morning when volunteer Alan and I went out early there were plenty of puffins and a good number of Razorbills and Guillemots on the cliffs. Instead of moving stone or getting the buildings ready for the influx of folk next week, we took time out on the cliffs and on the paths enjoying the spectacle.
Not the full quota yet but an encouraging amount of puffins
I could watch Razorbills all day
The cliffs are alive with the sound of Guillemots!
We’re now crossing everything that these birds have a good breeding season after the particularly difficult winter.
