Not going out

The weather has been rubbish. Do I need to say more? Strong winds that are alternating from south west to south east are a combination that make it very difficult to land on the island. The south-easterlies build up a swell that makes the Kirkhaven harbour impossible to land in and the south-westerlies mean that the west landing on Alterstanes isn’t accessible. And when it alternates then both landings become inaccessible. For the last few weeks this has been what we have been getting. Last week only 1 boat made it out to land some contractors to look at the solar panels and generators and this week isn’t looking great for boats either.
But when it comes down to it, the island is 6 miles out in the North Sea and it is winter so it shouldn’t be a complete surprise!
