The Return of the Pharos

The Pharos off the east side.

Its that time of year again when we suddenly see the Pharos close into shore, this is the Northern Lighthouse Boards supply ship essential for keeping all of Scotlands lighthouses topped up and running smoothly. Now how do you move tonnes of fuel, water and oil to  a lighthouse on top of an island? By helicopter of course!

The helicopter taking off for its one of many trips across.

It first came across to drop off the crew of maintenance staff and it flies several loads from the Pharos over the island to the Lighthouse.

Dropping the crew off.

A load coming across.

Carefully place right outside the door.

And then back again for another load.
