Sunday 22nd March comments: it’s been another exciting few days on the May as the seabird breeding season continues to gather momentum and we welcomed back one very special visitor.
On Friday whilst the island experienced darkness for a few brief minutes following the solar eclipse, our Puffins touched land for the very first time. Having departed the ‘May’ last August this is the first time our birds have seen land and it was a very welcome sight.
It’ll still be some time before Puffins start settling (usually mid-April) as the birds will move back out to sea with the onset of any poor weather. However it was good to welcome them home and lets hope for a good season for these crazy little sea parrots.
