Sunday 19th April comments: It’s been coming. As high pressure has continued to dominate the mild weather has encouraged the seabirds to settle and it’s been a frantic 24 hours as not one, but all three species of Auk have laid eggs.

Late on Saturday evening our first Razorbill eggs were discovered and this was followed by this morning’s news that the first Guillemots were incubating. However this was all eclipsed by early afternoon as we had confirmation that our Puffins were also on eggs.

Its great news and the season will really ‘kick start’ from here as over the next few weeks we expect many more eggs to be laid. We now have five of our major seabirds on eggs as we still await Kittiwake and Arctic Terns to follow.

First egg dates this year:

Shag                      19th March (early!)

Eider                     16th April

GBB Gull              18th April

Razorbill              18th April

Guillemot           19th April

Puffin                   19th April
