Saturday 23rd May comments: Our noisy neighbours are back. We’ve been expecting it and it finally arrived. Today on the May we discovered our first Arctic Tern eggs as several pairs were incubating by the end of the day and so it begins…

Over the next four weeks good numbers of Arctic Terns will be incubating eggs and in time honoured tradition will attack anything and everything which comes in their way. And that includes you! All visitors to the island will be dive bombed and pecked as they run the gauntlet through the Terns to head further up the island (and they have been known to draw blood!)

So my advice, if you are visiting the May over the next month or so, please bring a hat. You have been warned. The Arctic terns are back.
