Thursday 25th June comments: The Isle of May (or May Island as it’s known locally) is an amazing place to experience the sights, sounds (and smells!) of an active seabird colony. The seabird city is home to 46,200 pairs of Puffins alone and is one of the best National Nature Reserves this country has to offer (and I’m not being biased…honest).
Despite the weather (can summer start please?) the seabirds of the May have been getting on with business as usual as thousands of hungry chicks are being fed by the day. Over the next 3-4 weeks we hope thousands will successfully fledge and we can then all celebrate a successful season.
However before then we’ve got a lot of hard work to do and I hope you can join us out here to experience what many describe as an unforgettable experience.
