Thursday 10th September comments: It isn’t just our seabirds which have departed the Isle of May as on Monday we said goodbye to another summer visitor; our long-term volunteer James. James has been working and living on the Isle of May since early May and was a real credit to SNH and the island.
The volunteer position on the Isle of May is as varied and as interesting as any as we deal with thousands of seabirds and thousands of visitors. James arrived looking to gain valuable work experience and he embraced the job, enjoyed island life and worked hard for the cause whilst making many friends along the way.
Myself and everyone connected to the Isle of May wish James all the very best of success in the future (he’s off to do a MSc in late September) and hopefully we’ll see him return in future years. Thanks again James – top man, top job.
If anyone is interested in following in James footsteps, we’ll be advertising the volunteer role in the New Year so stay tuned.
