Pup and mum on the Isle of May

Saturday 3rd October comments: We are now into early October and its an exciting time of year on the Isle of May. The number of Grey Seal pups born on the island has increased to six and with very mild weather dominating, the pups are doing well. However that may all change next week…watch this space…

On the bird front a few interesting sightings have also been made on the island especially today which brought Hen Harrier, Short-eared Owl Jack Snipe and Yellow-browed Warbler amongst others. Seawatching produced Great Northern Diver, Goosander 2, Brent Goose 8S and Pink-footed Goose 196 south.

With favorable winds predicted this week, it could prove very interesting for the May and its wildlife…
