Saturday 31st October comments: The Isle of May has changed. Long gone are our Puffins and Guillemots, we’ve said goodbye to our visitors and boat crews because now its very much Seal time!

Over the last four weeks Grey Seals have been arriving on the Isle of May to pup and will continue to do so over the next two months (peak birth rates will be in mid-November). The areas once dominated by Arctic Terns in the summer have now got marauding Seals whilst the jetties are full of pups and mothers.

It’s a very contrasting change and it’s great to see the largest Grey Seal colony on the east coast of the UK doing well and going from strength to strength. We’ll continue to keep you posted with progress as the amazing May never fails to impress.
