Just don’t mess with a bull (male) seal!

Sunday 11th September comments: Not long now. Its just a matter of a week or so before we’ll be celebrating the birth of our first Grey Seal pup of the autumn; the first of nearly 2,500 born on the island during the autumn months.

To celebrate the Isle of May’s importance to Grey Seals (the largest Seal colony on east coast) we will be running a ‘Seal Weekend’ with experts from Sea Mammal Research Unit available to explain the importance of their work on the island. We’ll be able to show you Grey Seals and if we are lucky, hopefully a pup or two!

The Seal Weekend will be running on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October and as usual check with the local boat operators for sailing times for that day (we’ll post more details closer to the time). However until then enjoy the images on the blog and hopefully we’ll bring you the first pup photos very soon…
