Weather Woes

Thursday 29th June comments: Welcome to flaming June…its been a shocking month. It started badly, was reasonable in the middle and has ended on a really bad note.

Its been officially the wettest June on record for areas of Fife with well over double the average rainfall and we certainly can vouch for that. The last twenty-four hours has seen winds increase to gale force strength with driving rain, not what you want if you have a small chick in a nest on a cliff ledge. Even worse you could be nesting underground seeing your burrow fill with water…

This unseasonal weather is certainly hitting us at the worst possible time for the nesting seabirds and over the next few days we’ll pick over the remains and see what the true extent of the damage is. Mother Nature has certainly dealt us a bad hand this summer…
