Tuesday 31st Comments: The Isle of May NNR is slowly and surely closing down. The thousands of summering seabirds have departed, the island is now closed to the public and the majority of the staff and researchers are away.
The season is now into its final leg, with the seal researchers and the Grey Seals making the island their home but even that will come to a close in mid-December. Thereafter we’ll lock the doors, batten down the hatches and leave the island to the mercy of Mother Nature, the rabbits and the mice.
However we are not finished just yet! Plenty more island news to bring you as Seal pup season is peaking and bird migration season is not over just yet…we still have time for one final interesting sighting as you just never know with a place like the Isle of May.
