Family Fun Day

Thursday 25th July comments: Over the last few days we’ve been celebrating Family Fun Day on the Isle of May and what a great few days its been. We couldn’t complain about the weather; glorious sun and flat seas (although maybe Ciaran who was dressed as Piper the Puffin may disagree!)

The island was a bee-hive of fun games from guessing the weights of seabirds to discovering what Gulls actually eat or how researchers use small plastic colour rings on Shags to track their movements. There was plenty more going on as the Seal team had a full Grey Seal Skeleton on show along with seal games whilst games based around plastics in the seas and dolphin fin identification were all part of the fun.

As always a family fun day on the Isle of May is not complete without Facepainters and of course Piper the Puffin! It was a wonderful few days and thank you to everyone who visited and enjoyed the Isle of May. Also thanks to everyone who contributed from the Scottish Natural Heritage volunteers and staff, Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU), Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH), St.Andrews University and of course the Ciaran as Piper. A good few days all round.
